Effective Sunday, May 23rd, the following changes will be made:

Reservations are no longer required for Masses at Sacred Heart Church, Our Lady of Perpetual Help and Holy Rosary Chapel. Masks are required. Social distancing is strongly encouraged.

Masses in the Parish Center gym will continue in order to accommodate those who would like to attend Mass with additional safety precautions. There will be a maximum occupancy of 100 people per Mass. Masks and social distancing are required. Reservations required. Sign up on our website.

If you do not feel comfortable attending Mass, you are encouraged to join us for the live-stream of the 5:30 pm Saturday Vigil Mass on our website.

April 28, 2021
Welcome Back!
Sacred Heart Parish is excited to announce that following Bishop Sheridan’s suspension of the dispensation of the obligation to attend Sunday Mass, we are lifting occupancy restrictions at Mass at Sacred Heart Parish. Effective Sunday, May 23rd, reservations are no longer required to attend any Mass at Sacred Heart Church, Our Lady of Perpetual Help and Holy Rosary Chapel. There will be no limit to the number of attendees at Mass. Gym Masses will end the previous weekend, May 16th. Wearing masks and social distancing are still encouraged, but not required. (Mask wearing is pending the Governor’s decision on the mask mandate.)

If you do not feel comfortable coming to Mass, you are encouraged to join us on our website for the live-stream of the 5:30 pm Mass on Saturdays. A recording of the Mass will be available to view all week.

As a reminder, individuals who are unable to attend Mass due to serious illness or advanced age continue to be dispensed from the Sunday obligation. Also, anyone who is sick, symptomatic, or has been recently exposed to the coronavirus, anyone with significant health risk factors that requires them to avoid public spaces, or if you care for someone with significant risk factors, and anyone who cannot attend Mass through no fault of their own is also dispensed from the Sunday obligation.

The Parish Center will open to the public at a later date.

Dispensation from Sunday Mass obligation to end May 23 in Diocese of Colorado Springs
Most Rev. Michael J. Sheridan announced that the dispensation from Sunday Mass attendance for Catholics in the Diocese of Colorado Springs will be lifted effective May 23, Pentecost Sunday.
“In March of 2020, due to the coronavirus pandemic, I granted a dispensation from the Sunday Mass obligation for Catholics living within the Diocese of Colorado Springs. Parishes in the diocese resumed public Masses two months later, but the dispensation remained in effect due to capacity restrictions at churches and the need for social distancing. Now, since the worst of the crisis appears to be behind us, the faithful in the diocese will once again be morally obligated to attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation.
As has always been the case, individuals who are unable to attend Mass due to serious illness or advanced age are dispensed from the Sunday obligation.”

March 12, 2021
Effective March 27 & 28, 2021, we will increase seating capacity to 80 per Mass at Sacred Heart Church and 100 per Mass at the Parish Center Gym.

January 30, 2021
Effective this weekend, we are happy to announce that we are able to accommodate more seating during the Masses at Sacred Heart Church and Parish Center Gym. We increased capacity from 50 to 70 people per Mass at Sacred Heart Church and from 50 to 80 people per Mass in the gym. We are no longer using assigned seating and parishioners will be able to choose their own seats while following social distancing guidelines. Masks are still required. Reservations are also still required for weekend Masses. Sign up on our website. We hope you can join us!

December 5, 2020
Please note that if El Paso County moves to “level purple,” on the COVID-19 dial, all Masses will be canceled at Sacred Heart Parish, including Christmas Eve and Day Masses. We will continue to offer the live-stream of the 7 pm Christmas Eve Mass and the weekly live-stream of the 5:30 pm Saturday Vigil Mass at Sacred Heart Church. Check the bulletin or our website for updates.

November 14, 2020
There is  second collection this weekend, Nov. 14th & 15th, for the Holy Cross Mission Appeal. To learn more about Holy Cross Mission Center visit www.holycrossmissions.org. Thank you for your generosity.

All are invited to join us on our website for the live-stream Thanksgiving Day Mass at 9 am at Sacred Heart Church.

This week we sent out a letter to all of our parishioners who do not have an email address on file with us to let them know what is happening at our parish. If you are viewing this message, we already have your email address (thank you!). A few highlights from the letter include:

Advent and Christmas are right around the corner. Sadly this year we will not have Advent Vespers or a Penance Service due to COVID-19. We will celebrate Christmas Eve Masses at 4:30 pm and 7 pm at Sacred Heart Church, 4 pm at OLPH with carols beginning at 3:30 pm, and 8 pm at Holy Rosary Chapel with carols beginning at 7:30 pm. We will celebrate Christmas Day Masses at 7:30 am and 9 am at Sacred Heart Church, and 8:30 am and 10:30 am in the Parish Center gym. Due to COVID-19 there is limited seating at each Mass and you must reserve seating in advance. If you aren’t able to sign up at our website www.sacredheartcos.org, please contact our Parish Office at 719-633-871. You may reserve seating beginning Monday, Nov. 30.

Christmas “Giving Tree” at Sacred Heart Parish: This year the “Giving Tree” at our three churches looks a little different due to COVID-19. We are not collecting toys, gifts or other items. Instead, we are collecting monetary donations (cash or check) to support charitable organizations. Sacred Heart Church will support three organizations: El Centro de los Pobres in Avondale, CO, Fostering Hope in Colorado Springs and La Puente in Alamosa, CO. Holy Rosary Chapel will support the Myron Stratton Home for Abused Women in Colorado Springs and OLPH will support a needy family within the Manitou school system.
Donations can be dropped into the collection basket at Mass. Donations can also be mailed to the Parish Office, 2021 W. Pikes Peak Ave., Colorado Springs, CO 80904. Be sure to mark them for the “Giving Tree” and designate which church they are for. Thank you for your generous support!

Food Pantry Update: We are happy to announce that we will restart our parish’s Food Pantry at the beginning of December. The Food Pantry has been temporarily suspended since March due to COVID-19. When it resumes next month, it will look and operate differently. Initially the pantry will be open once a week on Thursday, and provide non-perishable food items only. We are pleased to welcome our new Food Pantry Coordinator, Bill Johnson, and are very happy to resume our mission of serving the poor and marginalized in our community.
The Food Pantry is accepting donations of plastic grocery bags. We are also looking for volunteers who have Wednesday or Thursday availability, and who are comfortable volunteering during these COVID-19 times. We are also accepting monetary donations. If you would like to make a monetary donation to the Food Pantry, drop donations in the collection basket at Mass, or mail them to the Parish Office. Be sure to mark the donation for the Food Pantry.

OLPH Ramp/ Bathroom/ Grotto Project: OLPH is in the process of raising funds to make OLPH accessible to all who attend by adding a handicap accessible ramp to the entrance of the chapel and the Fr. Schultz House, as well as adding a handicap accessible bathroom. We would also like to restore the old grotto on the grounds. See the enclosed flyer to learn more about the project. We currently have about $50K collected already toward our $200K project. We are hopeful of getting a few grants, but we need to continue to collect contributions as matching gifts for these grants so that our little chapel won’t be burdened with a large debt. If you are able to contribute to this project, drop off donations at Mass or mail them to the Parish Office. Be sure to mark all donations for the OLPH Capital Improvement Project. You can give online at our website or on OLPH’s GoFundMe Page https://gf.me/u/yzsjcm.

Saint André Meeting House: We postponed the remodeling of the Saint André Meeting House, formerly the old rectory of Sacred Heart Church, due to the pandemic. We are now working with Zachary Taylor, our architect, to procure bids from various construction companies. We will be presenting the plans to Bishop Sheridan and the diocesan building committee on Nov. 17. Our goal is to have meeting spaces and handicap accessible restrooms by our 100th anniversary in July 2022. We will keep you informed of our progress.

September 26, 2020
We are happy to announce that we now have a way to make online giving even easier at our parish with our new online giving app Ministry One. The video above explains why we have the new app and how to use it. Just in case, attached are written instructions. Ministry One does not replace our current online giving platform.

Also, we are happy to announce that we will resume offering paper copies of the weekly bulletin starting this weekend at all three of our churches. We will continue to offer our bulletin online at our website.

August 22, 2020
Live-streaming is finally here!!! Sacred Heart Church will live-stream the 5:30 pm Saturday Vigil Mass each week on the home page of our website. Not able to join us at that time? No problem! A recording of the Mass will be available all week on our website. Please be patient with us as we implement this new technology. Whether in person or online, we hope you can join us!

July 17, 2020- Press Release:
Diocese of Colorado Springs responds to executive order requiring masks to be worn in public spaces COLORADO SPRINGS.
Most Rev. Michael J. Sheridan of the Diocese of Colorado Springs issued the following statement in response to Governor Jared Polis’ executive order requiring that masks be worn in indoor public spaces. “Effective immediately, all Catholics in the Diocese of Colorado Springs should wear masks while attending Mass and other parish activities,” Bishop Sheridan said. “Our parishes are already taking many precautions to minimize the spread of coronavirus. Nonetheless, I understand that this additional measure may shorten the duration and severity of the pandemic. I also want to reiterate that all Catholics in the diocese are dispensed from their Sunday Mass obligation until further notice.”

Sacred Heart Parish
The Four Phases of Covid-19

Phase 1:  NO ONE AT MASS
· State and local government and the diocese require staying at home for everyone.
· The usual schedule for weekend Masses at Sacred Heart, OLPH, and Holy Rosary is suspended.
· The usual schedule for daily Masses at Sacred Heart is suspended.

Phase 2:   A FEW AT MASS
· State and local government and the diocese permit events for up to ten participants while practicing social distancing of 6 feet.
· The usual schedule for weekend Masses is reinstituted for Sacred Heart, OLPH, and Holy Rosary.
· Participation in all Masses will require making a reservation and wearing a mask.
· Daily Mass at 8 am is reinstituted at Sacred Heart, but will be restricted to ten participants while practicing social distancing of 6 feet.

Phase 3:  MORE AT MASS
· State and local government and the diocese permit events for the number of participants that can be safely accommodated in a defined space while practicing social distancing of 6 feet.
· Due to the configuration of our churches, social distancing requirements will limit the number of participants at Sacred Heart to 50, OLPH to 20 and Holy Rosary to 20.
· The usual schedule for weekend Masses is adjusted for Sacred Heart, OLPH, and Holy Rosary in order to accommodate as many parishioners as possible.
· Weekend Masses for Sacred Heart will be on Saturday at 5:30 pm in the church, and on Sunday at 7:30 am, 9:00 am and 11:30 am in the church and at 8:30 am and 10:30 am in the gym. The gym will accommodate 50 parishioners. The Mass times at Sacred Heart will be staggered to facilitate sanitization between Masses.
· Weekend Masses at the missions will be at 4 pm on Saturday for Holy Rosary and 5 pm on Sunday for OLPH.
· Participation in all Masses will require making a reservation using Sly Reply, our online reservation system, and wearing a mask.
· Daily Mass at 8 am continues at Sacred Heart, but will continue to be restricted to ten participants while practicing social distancing of 6 feet.

Phase 4:  EVERYONE AT MASS
· State and local governments rescind all restrictions relating to the number of participants permitted at events and to social distancing.
· The usual schedule for weekend Masses at Sacred Heart will continue. Masses in the gym will be discontinued.
· No reservations will be required.
· The weekend Masses remain at 4 pm on Saturday for Holy Rosary and 5 pm on Sunday for OLPH so that all weekend Masses at Sacred Heart, OLPH and Holy Rosary can be celebrated by a single priest if required.
· Daily Mass continues at Sacred Heart at 8 am, but without any restrictions on the number of participants.

May 30, 2020
Below is a video of Fr. Ron Raab, CSC explaining how to safely enter the church and receive communion as we resume Masses (for up to ten people with reservations) this weekend at Sacred Heart Parish.
May 22, 2020
Below is a letter to all parishioners outlining Sacred Heart Parish's Guidelines for Attending Mass during COVID-19. Please read it carefully. At the bottom of the letter is a request for volunteers to help with the new check in process at Mass. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this difficult time.

May 21, 2020
Dear Parishioners,

Thank you for your patience as we work out all the details of reopening our three churches. We are glad that we will soon be back together, however we are being cautious for your protection. We realize that you may be frustrated with Sacred Heart Parish’s guidelines for attending Mass listed below, however we are closely following the guidelines from the El Paso County Health Department. We are doing our best to accommodate our parishioners and the future of our three communities. In the meantime, maintain hope in the person of Christ Jesus, the true reason for our community.
Starting Pentecost weekend, May 30th & 31st, Sacred Heart Parish will offer public Masses at all three of our churches with the following Mass schedule:
Saturday, May 30th – 5:30 pm Vigil Mass at Sacred Heart Church
  Sunday, May 31st - 7:30, 9 & 11:30 am at Sacred Heart Church
Sunday, May 31st – 7:30 am at Holy Rosary Chapel
Sunday, May 31st – 9 am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help
Tuesday, June 2nd- *8 am & *5:30 pm at Sacred Heart Church (*Mass for the
   celebration of Pentecost)
Thursday, June 4th- *8 am & *5:30 pm at Sacred Heart Church (*Mass for the
    celebration of Pentecost)

We ask that parishioners sign up for the above listed Masses, however, only ten people will be allowed per Mass at this time. Sign ups are on a first come, first serve basis. (See Parishioner Responsibilities below for more details on sign ups.) This Mass schedule along with the amount of people allowed at each Mass will be reassessed after Pentecost and any changes will be communicated to the parish.

Although Bishop Sheridan has decreed that public Masses could resume on May 16th & 17th, he has also directed pastors to resume public Masses for the faithful only when they are able to do so safely. Sacred Heart Parish has chosen to resume public Masses on May 30th & 31st because that is when we believe we will be ready to provide a safe environment for all who attend. In the meantime, Sacred Heart Church is offering a limited Mass the two weekends before Pentecost to work out all of the details.

At this time Sacred Heart Parish is offering limited public Masses to ten people at a time in accordance with the Safer at Home Public Health Order 20-28, which states “All public and private gatherings are limited to no more than ten (10) individuals” (Order 1, C).” After consulting with the El Paso County Health Department, these guidelines were affirmed that no more than ten people are allowed to gather at this time. Sacred Heart Parish is committed to providing the highest safety standards possible while accommodating the safest number of people allowed to gather as instructed by county and state guidelines. When there is a change to these guidelines, we will adjust our seating capacity and communicate this information to the parish.

Please note that while our parish is implementing safety protocols for returning to Mass, there is still an increased risk of contracting the Coronavirus. Those 65 and older and those with underlying health conditions are encouraged not to attend Mass at this time. All attendees should know that they are attending Mass at their own risk. If you are sick, have a cough or fever, please stay home.

For those who wish to stay at home at this time, we encourage you to continue to join in Masses on television and online. We are currently pursuing the option to either livestream Mass or provide a weekly recording on our website. As a reminder, all the faithful are dispensed from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass.

The Parish Center will remain closed. There are still no ministry or organization meetings at the parish. The Parish Office is available by phone (719-633-8711) and email (office@sacredheartcos.org) Sunday thru Thursday, 8:30 am- 4:30 pm, however the front doors remain closed to visitors at this time.

As social distancing guidelines are gradually eased, we will observe both the guidelines of our local diocese and those of the state and local government in an effort of charity to not spread the Coronavirus.

When returning to Mass, please remember to practice good hygiene by washing your hands frequently, following social distancing guidelines and wearing a cloth face mask. Below is a list of responsibilities for those attending Mass. Please read the responsibilities. If you or a member of your household are not able or willing to abide by the responsibilities outlined below, we ask that you stay at home at this time.

Responsibilities for those Attending Mass:

1. Make a reservation for you and your family. Contact the Parish Office at 719-633-8711 or email office@sacredheartcos.org. The office is available to take reservations Sunday from 8:30 am- 1 pm, Monday - Wednesday from 8:30 am-4:30 pm and Thursday from 8:30 am- noon. Only those with a confirmed reservation will be allowed to enter the churches at this time. Reservations are on a first come, first serve basis. The parish will determine how many seats are available based on the current state and county guidelines and the appropriate amount of spacing in each of the churches. Once seats are filled, there will be no wait-list offered at this time. Reservations will be offered weekly for the following Sunday and weekday Masses. We will not make reservations for future Masses in advance.

When making a reservation, please include the following information:
  1. Your name and the names of all immediate family members attending with you, including children and infants.
  2. Phone number and email address.
  3. Which Mass you would like to attend for the upcoming week.
  4. Since the number of people who can attend Mass is limited, we ask that your family attend only one Sunday or weekday Mass per month to allow other parishioners the opportunity to attend.
  5. If anyone is 65 or older. (However, we strongly encourage you to stay home at this time.)
  6. You will receive a confirmation email that your reservation has been made. If you do not receive this confirmation, your reservation has not been accepted. Leaving a voicemail message or sending an email does not confirm your reservation.
* Please note that this reservation system may change to an online sign up system once Masses are able to accommodate more than ten people. More information will be communicated if there is a change in the reservation system.

2. Arrive 15-30 minutes early to Mass. When you arrive for your scheduled Mass, please park and wait in your car. The church will open 30 minutes before the scheduled Mass timeand Hospitality Ministers will be outside to welcome you and check you in. Observe social distancing between households by using the markers on the sidewalks and abiding by the markers on the pews in the church. Parishioners must bring and wear a face mask at all times on the property, including in the parking lot, and during Mass.

3. Follow the check-in procedure. After being checked in, all parishioners will enter the church through the side door entrance. The check in process will include confirmation that all parishioners have brought and are wearing their face mask and have sanitized their hands prior to entry. Once all parishioners with reservations have been checked in, the doors will be closed and locked on the outside to prevent exceeding a safe capacity inside the church. Only those who have made a reservation for the Mass will be admitted to Mass at this time. (A similar check in process will occur at Our Lady of Perpetual Help and Holy Rosary Chapel.)

4. Practice good hygiene and wash your hands well before coming to the church. There will be hand sanitizer stations outside the church entrance. All are asked to sanitize their hands before entering the church.

The restroom in Sacred Heart Church will be available, however it can not be properly disinfected after each use. It will be sanitized after each Mass. Parishioners will use the restroom at their own risk. The restrooms in the Parish Center will not be available at this time.

5.  All are required to bring and wear a cloth face mask while on the property and during Mass, removing it only when receiving Holy Communion. This includes children two years and older.

There will be no singing because it dramatically increases the potential for spreading the virus if someone is infected. Also, the hymnals will be removed from the pews.

6. Please keep a safe social distance when:
a. Seated in the pews. Our Hospitality Ministers will seat each household according to distancing guidelines in the order that they arrive. Households will sit together in pews as they normally do, side by side. Maintain 6 feet between your household and the next one in a pew.

b. When going to Communion we ask all to leave the pew, as indicated by Hospitality Ministers, and come forward observing the taped markings on the floor to keep the 6 feet distance while standing in line. Families belonging to the same household are encouraged to stand together. We strongly encourage all to come forward so no one must climb over someone and violate social distancing rules.

c. Parishioners are encouraged to place their donation in the central collection basket as they leave the church. We will not pass the collection baskets. All parishioners are still encouraged to contribute to the financial needs of the parish through online giving even if you are not able to be physically present at Sunday Mass.

d. When leaving Church and going to your car, please maintain social distancing. Do not gather outside of the church to visit or socialize. Paper bulletins will not be passed out. Weekly bulletins are available on our website www.sacredheartcos.org.

7.  Holy Communion SHOULD BE RECEIVED IN THE HAND ONLY to safeguard the recipient and the priest. We realize this will be difficult for some, but we ask that we humble ourselves in obedience and gratefully receive our Lord in this manner to practice charity towards our neighbor. The distribution of the Precious Blood to the people remains suspended at this time.

Hospitality Ministers will encourage the orderly process towards Holy Communion. The Eucharist will be distributed by sections of seating to allow for social distancing when in line to receive and when returning to your pew. The recipient should keep their mask on in the communion line, receive the Eucharist in their hand, step a few feet away from the priest, remove their face mask to consume the Eucharist, and promptly put their face mask back on before returning to their seat.

8. Leaving Church: Be mindful of proper social distancing as you leave. The Hospitality Ministers will dismiss rows one by one. We ask that you wait to leave until you are instructed to ensure proper social distancing. Once the Mass concludes, we ask that you promptly leave the church so that we may adequately sanitize the church before the next Mass attendees arrive. Please do not stay behind to pray or socialize.

9. If you become sick with COVID-19 symptoms and/ or test positive after attending Mass at Sacred Heart Parish, as a courtesy we ask that you please contact the parish office to disclose which Mass you attended. You do not need to disclose your name and that information won’t be shared with other parishioners. However, in the event that someone who attends a Mass becomes ill with the virus, we would like the opportunity to contact other attendees to let them know that they have been potentially exposed to prevent the spread of the virus in the community.

We need your help: We need Hospitality Ministers at EACH Mass to assist with the check in process, seat attendees, direct parishioners in the communion line and at dismissal. If we do not have enough volunteers, we may not be able to gather for Mass in the future when the number of attendees is allowed to increase. The majority of our Hospitality Ministers who currently serve in this ministry are 65 years and older. We strongly suggest that they stay home at this time. We need volunteers who are between the ages of 18-64 to volunteer to help during this unique time. No previous experience necessary. Training will be provided! If you are able to volunteer, email Sue Gerlach at sgerlach@sacredheartcos.org.

Other ways to help: Pray for the welfare of our three churches and our parish. Please be patient with us as we maneuver through the sign up process and the new procedures for attending Mass. If you are able to contribute financially to support our three churches, we welcome you to do this through our online giving portal or mail your contribution to Sacred Heart Parish, 2021 W. Pikes Peak Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80904.

Let us thank God for his loving protection and our Blessed Mother Mary for her prayerful intercession as we open our three churches for public Masses! Thank you for your patience with us as we navigate through this unprecedented time. Please know of our prayer for you and your loved ones.

Sincerely,
Sacred Heart Parish COVID-19 Task Force

May 20, 2020
At this time Sacred Heart Parish is offering limited public Masses to ten people at a time in accordance with the Safer at Home Public Health Order 20-28, which states “All public and private gatherings are limited to no more than ten (10) individuals” (Order 1, C).” After consulting with the El Paso County Health Department, these guidelines were affirmed that no more than ten people are allowed to gather at this time. Sacred Heart Parish is committed to providing the highest safety standards possible while accommodating the safest number of people allowed to gather as instructed by county and state guidelines. When there is a change to these guidelines, we will adjust our seating capacity. In addition, Sacred Heart Parish is requiring all attendees to wear face masks and observe social distancing guidelines. For more details, please refer to our Sacred Heart Parish Guidelines for attending Mass during COVID-19, a letter that will be mailed/ emailed to parishioners later this week.

May 15, 2020
Public masses at Sacred Heart Parish will resume the weekend of Pentecost, May 30 & 31 at all three of our churches.
Although Bishop Sheridan has decreed on May 13th that public Masses can resume on May 16th & 17th, he has also directed pastors to resume public Masses for the faithful only when they are able to do so safely. Sacred Heart Parish has chosen to resume public Masses on May 30th & 31st because that is when we believe we will be ready to provide a safe environment for all who attend. In the meantime, Sacred Heart Church is offering a limited Mass the two weekends before Pentecost to work out all of the details.
Parishioners are asked to make a reservation to attend public Masses on May 30th & 31st starting May 26th (The Parish Office is closed for Memorial Day). Masses will be limited to ten people per Mass, including the priest, proclaimer and any Hospitality Minister.
Please see our parish bulletin for more details.

Diocese of Colorado Springs announces return to limited public Masses
COLORADO SPRINGS. Most Rev. Michael J. Sheridan of the Diocese of Colorado Springs announced that parishes in the diocese will resume the celebration of public Masses May 16-17. Attendance at each Mass will be limited through a reservation system, and strict social distancing guidelines will be observed.
“We have communicated with priests, secular advisors, and health officials to determine how best to reopen our churches in a way that is safe for the faithful and the broader community,” Bishop Sheridan said. “While we are happy to be able to welcome the faithful back to church, Catholics are still dispensed from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass because we are not yet at the point where we are permitted to fill our churches. Anyone who is sick or has an underlying condition that would make them susceptible to the coronavirus should not attend public Mass and is encouraged to participate via internet or television.”
May 6, 2020
Masses at Sacred Heart Church only will tentatively resume the weekend of Pentecost, May 30 & 31.

· Sacred Heart Parish has created a COVID-19 Task Force to discuss the innumerable details that need to be considered to allow our parish to reopen safely and resume Masses. The Task Force will report back to the parish.
Mission Statement: The Sacred Heart Parish Covid-19 Task Force will assist the Pastor in planning for the reopening of the parish for the celebration of Masses for as many parishioners as can be accommodated in a healthy and safe environment within state guidelines. It will also help articulate how Sacred Heart Parish can lead in calling all parishioners to service. The plan will outline what adjustments will be needed when Masses with a greater number of people become possible at a future time. The health and safety of all clergy, staff and parishioners will be the central element of the plan. The Task Force’s assistance will be offered for as long as necessary.

· Sacred Heart Parish will determine when and how we resume Masses based on our ability to maintain a safe environment. Keep in mind that these procedures and timeline may be different from other churches in the diocese.
      - The goal is to tentatively resume Masses at Sacred Heart Church only the weekend of Pentecost, May 30 & 31.
      - Initially, Masses will be offered only at Sacred Heart Church. We will open the two mission churches at a later    date.
      - We are pursuing the ability to live stream/ record Masses and make them available on our website.

· It is important to keep in mind that when Masses do resume, things will be different than before.
       - The number of people who can attend will be limited.
      - Parishioners will be asked to register in advance to attend a Mass.
      - There will be a check-in process for Mass.
      - We will follow social distancing rules.
      - Attendees will be required to wear a mask.
      - The church will be cleaned and sanitized after each Mass.

· More details coming soon
     - Check the bulletin, website & Facebook for more details. We will be sending out more detailed communications in the next few weeks.

Prayer against Coronavirus
Lord Jesus Christ, our Divine Physician, we ask you to guard and protect us from Coronavirus COVID-19 and all serious illness.
For all that have died from it, have mercy; for those that are ill now, bring healing.
For those searching for a remedy, enlighten them; for medical caregivers helping the sick, strengthen and shield them.
For those working to contain the spread, grant them success; for those afraid, grant peace.
May your precious blood be our defense and salvation.
By your grace, may you turn the evil of disease into moments of consolation and hope.
May we always fear the contagion of sin more than any illness.
We abandon ourselves to your infinite mercy.
Amen

We miss you!!
During this time that we can’t be together, we want our parishioners to know that we miss you! We would like to put together a slideshow of parishioner pictures on our website as a way to share your smiling faces with each other. Please send a picture of yourself or your family (a selfie will do!) passing the time while we are apart. Don’t forget to include a brief caption. Send pictures to communications@sacredheartcos.org or upload a photo under “contact us” on our website or message us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/tricommunity/. Share this request with other parishioners. Let’s do something that will make us all smile! Once enough pictures are received, the slideshow will be available on our website. Thanks for brightening our day!

Sacred Heart Parish

Coronavirus Update:
All Masses and parish activities at Sacred Heart Parish are canceled until further notice. Sacred Heart Parish Center is closed to both parishioners and visitors. This means the doors to the Parish Center will be kept locked to ensure the health and safety of our parish staff, who are working in the office, and to prevent the need to continually sanitize the building.  If you have a private meeting scheduled with any member of our staff during the current COVID-19 pandemic, please be sure to call in advance so we'll know you will be here, and the staff member can meet you at the door to allow you entry.  We are answering the phones, and responding to messages, Monday - Thursday from 8:30 am until 12 pm, and 1 pm until 4:30 pm.  If you have any questions or concerns, or need assistance, please call the Parish Office at 719-633-8711.
Bishop Sheridan’s Message Regarding the Coronavirus:
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Be Not Afraid! In these times of uncertainty and change, it may be difficult to hear these words of Christ. But they are absolutely necessary. Be Not Afraid! Each day seems to bring new information that can overwhelm us unless we keep our thoughts and prayers focused on Christ.
The COVID-19 situation is causing both the government and the Church to take unprecedented steps to protect the health and safety of the most vulnerable among us. With the Archdiocese of Denver and the Diocese of Pueblo, we have tried to take uniform and prudent steps to achieve this goal. In the days and weeks to come, our parishes and our communities will face challenges that can only be successfully addressed together.
As Pope Francis said, parishes are the field hospitals for the souls of the faithful. This is true now more than ever. I am working with pastors to address issues related to administering the sacraments, finances, and human resources. The bottom line, however, is that our parishes cannot continue to minister effectively without your support. Please remember that your pastors are 100% dependent on your stewardship to pay for all their ministries, their staff, and maintaining parish facilities.
We are one body in Christ, and none of us stand alone. Please prayerfully consider how you can support your parishes and your communities. We must love the Lord our God with all our hearts, souls, and minds, and love our neighbors as ourselves. Please pray for me and know that you are all in my prayers in these trying times.

Holy Week and Easter:
The Diocese of Colorado Springs will not have public liturgies for Holy Week and Easter.   Most Rev. Michael J. Sheridan of the Diocese of Colorado Springs announced that, in compliance with federal and state guidelines prohibiting gatherings of more than 10 people due to the coronavirus pandemic, Holy Week and Easter liturgies will not be celebrated publicly this year. Holy Week and Easter Masses will be recorded and be available for viewing on the diocesan website, www.diocs.org. “In response to Governor Jared Polis’ directive that gatherings of more than 10 people cannot take place, I am joining with Archbishop Aquila of the Archdiocese of Denver and Bishop Berg of the Diocese of Pueblo in deciding that the we will not hold public Holy Week and Easter liturgies,” Bishop Sheridan said. “Holy Thursday, Good Friday and the Easter Vigil — which together comprise the Triduum — are three of the most important days in the Catholic Church’s liturgical year. These holy days cannot be cancelled or postponed, and it causes me great pain that our faithful will not be able to join each other in attending these liturgies at their parishes. However, I encourage all Catholics to continue observing the penitential practices of Lent over the next several weeks, and to unite themselves in their homes with the events of Holy Week through television and the internet.”   All are encouraged to view these liturgies online.
Basket of Prayers:
During Holy Week and Easter, Fr. Ron and Fr. Randy will join their Holy Cross Brothers at the Novitiate for a private celebration. Know that their thoughts and prayers are with you now and especially during Holy Week. Fr. Ron requests that parishioners send in their prayers so they can be gathered into a “Prayer Basket” to be shared during the private celebration of Holy Week. Email your prayers to office@sacredheartcos.org or submit them on our website www.sacredheartcos.org or call and share them with the Parish Office at 719-633-8711.
