Proclaimer

Also known as Lector or Reader.

Proclaimers proclaim the Word of God in the liturgical assembly. Accordingly, it is their ministry to proclaim the Old and New Testament scriptures at Mass and lead the Universal Prayer if a deacon is not present. (If not sung at daily Mass, the proclaimer recites the psalm between the readings.) Training is provided.

Requirements: Registered member of Sacred Heart Parish, pleasant, loud and clear speaking voice, comfortable proclaiming scripture to a large gathering, age appropriate, and have received the Sacraments of Baptism, First Reconciliation and Eucharist.
